Fundraising for the Hāna Hub!

Aloha Kākou,

We are excited to share this opportunity to be part of the foundational springboard effort to establish the long-awaited Hāna Hub!

The HBC and Hāna Hub Steering Committee are spearheading the Hāna Hub: Empowering Local Agriculture GoFundMe campaign with an initial goal of $100,000 to begin building the project’s financial foundation and to cover the costs associated with overseeing the property and moving the Hāna Hub project forward, while other grant and revenue sources are being developed. We are working with community leaders to build this agricultural aggregation, commercial kitchen, and resilience hub in Hāna. The purchase of this land is supported by Councilmember Shane Sinenci, and we have an agreement from Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen to secure funding for the purchase of this property with funding from Maui County.
Your contribution will go towards:
  • Monthly rental, utility, and maintenance costs
  • Planning, acquisition, and development costs – including appraisal costs, and project management
  • Supporting community activities on the property with associated materials & equipment costs
  • Building the capabilities of East Maui agriculture & bridging our resiliency network throughout Maui Nui and Hawaiʻi
  • Creating a fund for grant matching & outreach

Initiated by seed money contributions of $30,000 from the Hāna Maui Trust, we are excited to have community engagement to develop this ʻāina for our next generation leaders and ʻohana. To access the pdf for the donation request go to HBC Hāna Hub Donation Request Letter.

In addition to donations, ongoing grant funding has been provided through the Maui County Department of Agriculture, and to date we have thus far compiled the  Hāna Hub Proof of Concept Report developed with the University of Hawaiʻi Community Design Center funded through a $100,000 grant awarded from 2022-2023; and a current $36,000 grant as we enter into Phase II.

With the Hāna Business Council acting as the fiscal agent for the lease of this land, in addition to online submissions to the GoFundMe, checks can be written to the HBC with Hāna Hub in the memo and mailed to PO Box 856, Hāna, HI 96713, or online payments will be gratefully received on the HBC PayPal Hāna Hub Donation Page.

Mahalo nui for your support and being part of this project! We appreciate the support of time or any financial donations you can contribute, and will gratefully add your name to our foundational donor list, for this community Hāna Hub project that will provide opportunities for generations to come!
